Tech and Engineering for Girls

  • Tuesdays:  3:30 – 5:00    Ages 10-14.
  • 6 classes –  cost per session:  $144
  • Session 1: September 22, 29, Oct 6, 13, 20,27
  • Session 2:  November 3, 10, 17, 24, Dec 1, 8
  • Minimum: 5, Maximum 8

Description: Using wood, PLA, paper, polymer clay, fabric & fibre, computer software, 3D printers, laser cutter, mobile devices, wires, LEDs, and a variety of traditional craft materials as girls try their hand at designing new and remixing old projects. Students need to be prepared to get their hands dirty!

Micro:bit Club

  • Thursdays:  3:30 – 5:00  Ages 10-14.  
  • 6 classes –  cost per session:  $144
  • Start September 24, Oct 1, 7, 15, 22, 29

Description: Learn to Code, or extend your understanding of coding using a Scratch-like block coding program and the Micro:bit.  Students will become familiar with programming concepts and electronics components, while building practical, hands-on electronics projects using the micro:bit. 

Raspberry Pi Club

  • Thursdays: 3:30 – 5:00 Ages 10-14.
  • 6 classes –  cost per session:  $144
  • November 5, 12, 19, 26, Dec 3, 10
  • Minimum: 5, Maximum 8

Description: Learn to Code, or extend your understanding of coding using Scratch and the Raspberry Pi.  Students set up their own Raspberry Pi and then write Scratch programs that control or respond to sensor data from GPIO pins. This enables students to build breadboard circuits that work with Scratch programs to play sounds or activate lights, for example, based on sensor input.
