A cloud service is simply a business that owns lots of computers that will store and also back up your stored information, there is some overlap in storage solutions but it is best to take the course specific to tour equipment a digital needs.

Managing Photos 

Using Google Photos to Manage Photos, Videos on any Smartphone, Tablet

Learn the pros and cons of each of the built-in photo programs on your device, and learn how migrating to Google Photos can ease management issues. Please bring your phone to class, and know your user names/passwords for your google, apple, or other related accounts.

Managing Photos and Videos on the Windows 10 Computer

Windows 10 introduced new features for handling your photos. Learn how to view, edit, and backup your photos using Windows default photo app and cloud storage options. Please bring your own computer or contact the instructor regarding a computer to use during the class.

This course is an introduction to the opportunities and challenges of using your tablet as your primary camera and photo sharing device. In addition to a thorough look at the Camera and Photos applications, tips and tricks for managing photo and video files will be provided.

Getting the Most out of Photos (Mac Computer)

Apple’s latest revision of the Photos application on the iMac has combined the accessibility of iPhoto with the power of Aperture.  Learn the basic tricks to make the most of your photos.

Apple Computers

Intro to Apple Computers 

This course introduces the main features of the  Apple (Mac) computer. Participants will learn how to navigate the main areas of the system and learn to manage the desktop, dock, menus, file system, system preference. An overview of the applications that are part of the Apple operating system will be included.

Apple Computers –  Basic Applications

 This course if for those that  understand the basics of the Apple (Mac) computer and want to learn more about using Apple’s Calendar, Notes, Mail, Reminders, iTunes and iPhoto applications that are common on all current apple devices.

Windows Computers

Introduction to Windows Computers for Seniors – NEW!

You’ve never used a computer before, but you want to learn about how computers can be helpful before you buy a computer. Computers will be provided by the instructor for this course.      Learn how to turn on, log in, and navigate on the web in this basic introductory course.

Learn the basic features/landscape of Microsoft’s Windows 10.  Personalize your system, take control of your account, manage updates, and learn the basic applications and skills necessary to search the web, send/receive email, add applications, customize your desktop/start menu.

Introduction to iPads for Seniors  – NEW!

Have you heard family members talk about iPads and iPhones. You don’t need to own an iPad to take part in this introductory course.  The instructor will bring along iPads for your use during the class.  Learn how to use these devices for very basic activities. The course is limited to 3-6 students. It is a good course to take before purchasing a mobile device.

Frustrated with managing multiple Apple devices in your household. Join us for a session to help take the mystery out of taming the communication and repetition between devices.

Turn your iPad into a mobile office All-In-One – NEW!!

Suitable for university students and employees! Learn the basic features of Apple’s powerful trio of office apps that come installed on your iOS10 iPad or as a free download for iPads activated after September 2013. Learn how to create documents, posters, presentations, slideshows, and spreadsheets. Increase the functionality of your iPad by exploring scanning apps that allow you to edit documents, fax documents, save documents to the cloud, and one of them will even read the document back to you. Learn the basics of this extremely powerful spreadsheet program. Learn to create basic budget, and inventory sheets, and create graphs to display your data. Word Processing on iPad Using Pages

Learn the basics of this powerful visual word processing program that easily lets you create beautiful documents. Learn to create letters, colourful posters, cards and personalized templates.  Bring along on your iPad photos that you would like to use in your documents.

Presentations with Keynote 

Keynote is Apple’s simple to use, and very powerful competition for Microsoft’s PowerPoint. Learn how to make colourful presentations that take advantage of all the photos, videos, and voice files that you can easily create on a Mac!  You can even learn the tricks of creating a simple movie to impress family and friends.  Bring along on your laptop and iPad with videos, photos that you would like to use in your presentation.

Creating and Publishing a Digital Book on your iPad or Android Tablet

Do you have aspirations to self-publish?  Using a simple app called Book Creator on your tablet, you can create your own digital book for personal use or for submission to various eBook markets.  This 2 session course will provide you with the basic knowledge to construct your own ebook, and information on how to publish the book. Please purchase/download Book Creator by Red Jumper onto your device prior to the session.

WordPress for Beginners

WordPress is much more than blogging or a simple website – it has developed into a very robust and easy to use Content Management system that allows individuals and business to  share on the internet. Creating your own personal WordPress is a great way to share your personal interests with family, friends and further afield.  Learn how to set up and customize your own installation of a WordPress.  Learn to manage pictures, and files as well as managing a blog.  Bring along a laptop to this workshop.

WordPress for Home Business

Dig deeper into the options that WordPress offers to be a primary source of information, and potential eCommerce site for your business. Learn the options for communicating with your customers through posts, articles, and newsletters through effective plugins.  Explore how to set up a gallery, catalogue to showcase your wares!  Bring along a laptop to this workshop.  Learn the basic of SEO (Search Engine Optimization).Please contact the instructor if you wish to borrow a laptop.

Facebook Fun – Communicate with Family and Friends

Facebook is a great way to keep in touch with family and friends. Come and learn how it behaves on different devices (tablets, laptops) and how you can ‘tame’ the features to suit your needs.  Bring along your own laptop/tablet – and your password/user name if you have not already set up an account.  If you have not set up an account, please phone the instructor prior to the class and you will be advised as to the information you need for the class!
