WVL Centre staff have been providing a learning environment for students who have challenges to being successful in the traditional brick/mortar schools. We are a learning centre that supports students who have chosen alternate education paths to achieve their K-12 education.
Currently we are working with six online education providers including Fawkes Online, Self Design, Oak and Orca, Heritage (HCOS), Regency (ROCA) and SIDES. In addition, several of our learners are home schooled. Our students range in age for 6 through 19, from grades 1-12. All students are working to complete their K-12 schooling through the direction of online learning teachers and with our staff providing learning activities and documentation of learning. Families choose to attend WVL Centre for 1-5 days per week, 3-6 hours/day.
WVL Centre’s focus is to provide an environment where the students are able to identify their strengths, gain strategies to overcome learning challenges, and learn to regulate while learning and socially interacting their learning through targeted skills and routines. Learning often occurs 1-1 or 1-2, providing each student with the opportunity to learn to question and direct their learning.
As identified in our constitution, WVL Centre is for the student who may be struggling to learn due to identified/unidentified learning disabilities, but still wants to learn. These students may have behaviours that will subside as they find their learning path and trust in the learning process is gained. WVL Centre is not for students who need constant behaviour intervention and are significantly disruptive to other learners. Many of our students are learning to cope with environmental sensitivities, our current students’ needs and the environment in our building: these factors limit the number of students on site during the day program.
The cost for the 2025-2026 day program is $145/day and $105/half day. Costs per day for the 2026/2027 day program will be published May 2026 and are anticipated to rise by 10-15%.
