Title: Code Quest: Create Your Own Games!

Cost: $350

Date: Week 2: July 6-July 10 Ages 6-9

Ready to turn your ideas into games and animations? In Code Quest, campers will dive into the world of coding using Scratch, a fun and colourful programming platform where you can make characters move, talk, and interact.

By snapping together simple coding blocks, campers will learn how to animate characters, design games, add sound effects, and build interactive stories. Along the way they’ll discover key coding concepts like sequences, loops, events, and logic—all while creating projects they can actually play!

Campers will get to design their own characters, invent game challenges, and experiment with different ideas as they build their coding skills step by step.

Possible projects include:

  • Create a simple maze game where players guide a character to the goal
  • Design a catch-the-object game with points and levels
  • Animate a short cartoon or interactive story
  • Build a dance party animation with music and moving characters
  • Create a space adventure game with enemies and scoring
  • Make a virtual pet that responds to clicks
  • Design a two-player racing or challenge game

Campers will practice problem-solving, creativity, and computational thinking while discovering that coding is not just about computers—it’s about building, experimenting, and bringing ideas to life. By the end of camp, each camper will have several playable projects and the skills to keep creating at home!

Please Note in the form below if your child has any social, emotional, or academic challenges that could impact their chosen camp. If you answer “yes” or “maybe”, WVL Staff will reach out prior to the camp to discuss your child’s needs, and arrange for an onsite visit prior to the camp to assist in making it a successful camp for all.
